Description
Miniplus is a brand of antihypertensive (prazosin Hydrochloride and Hydrochlorothiazide in combination). It contains prazosin 0.5mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg.
Indication:
- Management of moderate hypertension
- The prazosin component in Miniplus affords an added advantage of symptomatic improvement of co-morbidity with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
Prazosin acts by binding to specific alpha-1 receptors, displacing the binding of Norepinephrine post-synaptically while Hydrochlorothiazide impairs sodium re-absorption into the distal tubules.
These actions cause a reduction in Total Peripheral Vascular Resistance (TPVR) and an increased excretion of salt and water.
