Neimeth Re-Introduces CAAMPUSneimethpharma
Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc has launched a scholarship scheme for young undergraduates and fresh graduates known as Cardiovascular Academic Award Medical Pharmacy Undergraduates Scheme (CAAMPUS). The scheme through an essay competition intends to reward academic excellence, diligence, dedication and perseverance amongst final year and penultimate year students of Medicine and Pharmacy in the area of cardiovascular medicine. The scheme is also open to graduate doctors (House Officers/ NYSC Doctors only) and graduate pharmacists (Intern Pharmacists/ NYSC Pharmacists only).
The Essay Competition tagged 3rd Normoretic Hypertension Essay Competition launched at University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital focuses on hypertension, a major health concern in Nigeria. Statistics have shown that 25% of Nigerians are hypertensive. Blacks (Africans) are known to show certain peculiarities majorly implicated in the development of hypertension. The Essay Competition seeks to point out these differences to our healthcare providers and guide them on their choice of antihypertensive for blacks who have shown differences in clinical course and pattern of Essential Hypertension as against Caucasians. For our undergraduates and fresh graduates, the essay competition will stimulate research work in hypertension.
This 3rd Essay Competition had its maiden edition in 1998 with a follow up in 1999. A total of 14 winners emerged each year taking home over N2m as prizes each year. Prizes for this edition will include Normoretic cash award N100,000, Amlovar cash award N50,000 and Miniplus cash award N30,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in addition to I-Pads, 32” LCD TVs, Home Theatres and Blackberry phones. Medicine: Clinical Course and Pattern of Essential Hypertension in Blacks and Caucasians: The Role of Normoretic.
Pharmacy: The challenges and options of Drug Design for the Black Hypertensive: The Normoretic model.
As we kick off this campaign, we use this opportunity to implore health professionals, societies and parastatals to lend their maximum weight behind this laudable crusade of our organization, Neimeth Int’l Pharm Plc, to curb the menace of hypertension in Nigeria. This crusade is a component of our Fight The Good Fight Against Hypertension initiative and seeks to groom future cardiovascular experts.
