Neimeth Gets National Winner for NCP Nurses Essay Competition

A winner has emerged at the National level in the just concluded 6th Ncp Nurses Essay Competition.

She is Miss. Rofeequah Opeyemi Okunola, a 300 level student of School of Nursing Sacred Heart Hospital Lantoro, Abeokuta.
In her entry Miss. Okunola posited that ncp (Neimeth’s’ brand of antiseptic/disinfectant) has been proven over the years to effectively manage, mouth, throat and skin infections.
Elucidating on the “Power of 27 Ways” which highlights 27 different ways in which ncp can be used, she said that ncp is a brand that will make a huge contribution to the medical profession, pharmaceutical practice, the Nigerian Pharmaceutical Market and every home in Nigeria as culled from a statement made by the founding father of Neimeth, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa (OFR) in 2011.
Focusing on the Essay title “Beyond 27, 7 more innovative ways to use ncp in modern Nursing care, she highlighted that there are more ways in which the ncp antiseptic solution can be used especially in the medical, nursing profession and First Aid.
Above all, her entry described ncp as an oral and topical antiseptic proven to prevent and treat infections, for personal hygiene and useful in general household disinfection and may other ways.
For her effort as the National winner, Miss Okunola received a 32 GB 4th Generation Apple iPad. The National Essay Award which took place at the 2013 Nurses’ International week in Ibadan also had Miss. Olaitan Gbadamosi of School of Nursing, Sacred Heart Hospital Abeokuta and Mr. Damilola Elesho of School of Nursing Lagos University Teaching Hospital emerging 2nd and 3rd National winners respectively. Miss. Gbadamosi won the 2nd prize of a 32 Samsung LED colour Television, while Mr. Eleso won an LG Home Theatre for their efforts
Consolation prizes of ncp branded towels went to Akindele David (School of Nursing, Abeokuta), Olowomeye, I.E of LUTH School of Nursing and Beauty Iyabo Ikpefuran of Blue Cross Hospital, Ogba Lagos.
The Essay Competition which was conducted for Nurses PAN Nigeria also has awards implemented at the zonal levels. The
Zonal prize winners emerged from Lagos/Ogun, West, North and East zones. The Western zonal prizes for Ibadan and Ogbomosho were awarded at the School of Nursing Hall University College Ibadan with Anthonia Ifeoma Mekwunye of the School of Midwifery University College Hospital Ibadan, and Mrs Blessing Ogechi Babarinde of Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho emerging winners. The Deputy director of Medical services, Oyo State Health Management Board Dr D.G Okunade and the Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Ministry of Health , Oyo State Dr (Mrs) G.O. Adeniran awarded the prizes among other eminent dignataries.

For the Eastern zone, Hope Nduka of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital Hospital also received her prize. Prize awards for various schools of Nursing/ Midwifery are currently on-going.
It would be recalled that the ncp Essay Competition series is specially designed to stimulate self development and enhance intellectual capabilities in Nurses in Nigeria both at the student and professional levels.
